Made In Germany

Handcraft and attention to the smallest detail

It is not a coincidence that Yomei furniture is compared to Swiss watches in the industry. Yomei stands for top quality and precision, and achieves what many strive for: design that derives its value not only from its beauty but above all from its functionality and longevity.

Our workshop

A place of uniqueness

From design through prototyping to the handcrafted item. All from one source. All under one roof. Design and function merge in a modern and friendly environment in Detmold, East Westphalia. High-quality materials such as solid wood, stainless steel and leather are processed here with utmost care. Each piece of furniture created in our workshop is unique.

You are cordially invited to take a look inside our high-tech production hall and be inspired by our designers in the showroom. Our bistro offers you the right ambience to conclude your visit.

Our craftsmanship

Our Yomei carpenters and joiners are specialists who put their hearts and souls into their work. This is reflected in the quality, precision and loving details of our furniture.

There are visions behind our designs. And professionals who bring them to life. They follow one ideal: the combination of aesthetics with high practical value.

Our values

We add content and depth to surfaces

Expression without distraction. Adding space instead of taking it up. Functionality in design.

Yomei applies high standards to its furniture. That these standards are met and lead to top quality is partly due to the motto of the founder André Schelbach: “Beauty is the splendour of truth” (Plato/St Augustine).

Influenced by his practical work as a designer for the company s-designteam he developed his own personal style: a mix of artistic ambition and a healthy dose of pragmatism.

André Schelbach lived in Japan for some time. His stay has led to the design and its form language as well as the name itself: Yomei comes from the Japanese and means “excellent”. A name that keeps its promises.

Life cycle assessment

Design is also a question of ethics

As designers we have a responsibility to society. Therefore, the longevity of our furniture plays a major role, as does our sustainable, resource-saving manufacturing.

Yomei takes 100% of its electricity requirement from renewable sources (own and third-party generation plants). Thus we use 0% nuclear energy!

Town of Detmold public utilities as our energy provider: Yomei’s energy mix consists of 0.0% nuclear power, 0.0% coal, 0.0% natural gas, 0.0% other fossil fuels, 55.6% renewable energies promoted under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act, and 44.4% other renewable energies. This involves 0.0 g/kWh of CO2 emissions and 0.0 g/kWh of radioactive waste. (As of 2020). Source:
